Our Story

Backstage Farm began as a kitchen garden in 1992 (it didn’t have a name then) and it eventually produced so much food  that we realized that we should offer this bounty to our friends and neighbors. Thus began Backstage Farm - a biodynamic-inspired family farm that believes in a holistic, ecological, and ethical approach to farming as well as to food & nutrition. This is the turning point in the field of agriculture that is not solely based on quantity but on quality and value. With just an acre in production we grow most of the ingredients for our Moxie-brand line of lacto-fermented foods. We extend our short growing season by using high and low tunnels and we make ferments throughout the year.

You can find our products in the stores and co-ops in Blue Hill, Bangor, Brewer and Belfast, FarmDrop.us and fresh produce during growing season at the Blue Hill Co-op, Blue Hill Farmers Market, restaurants, and at the farm. Look for our ever-expanding line of fermented products.

New products we are offering : CURDIDO- South of The Border Salvadorian kraut and KKahdugi- Korean daikon radish kimchi

Our products are available in these stores: Blue Hill Co-op, Belfast Co-op, Natural Living Center in Bangor, Tiller & Rye in Brewer, Wine Shop in Blue Hill and FarmDrop.us, on-line farmers market

As of now we are not able to ship anywhere. We only sell locally.
